Our Montessori Philosophy
Dr. Maria Montessori, the Italian pediatrician who founded the philosophy, believed self-motivation to be the key to learning. Therefore, the Montessori teacher acts as a facilitator whose role is to stimulate interest in all facets of a child- centered learning environment. Montessori education recognizes the importance of all developmental areas, including social, emotional, physical, and intellectual needs.
Uniquely designed Montessori materials and teacher-made materials are used to meet the young child's learning needs.
Manipulative; The child learns by doing.
Concrete; The child can touch, feel, and move objects to learn their characteristics.
Sequenced; learning begins with the simple and progresses to the complex. This assures success and enhances self-esteem.
“Education is a natural process carried out by the child and is not acquired by listening to words but by experiences in the environment.” Maria Montessori
